We may never make another one of these. We mean that.
This is one of the most difficult guitar straps we have ever created. The Grateful Dead Uncle Sam figures are cut almost entirely freehand from kidskin leather — each one a miniature feat of precision. Every piece was then glued down and meticulously stitched with clear thread onto a base of rich deer-tanned leather, a supple and distinctive material that gives this strap a warmth and character all its own.
The level of freehand cutting required to pull off the Uncle Sam imagery — the hat, the details, the Grateful Dead spirit woven through all of it — pushed this build to the edge of what’s possible. We did it. We’re proud of it. And we’re not sure we’d do it again.
The original owner is a NY Deadhead, and they will almost certainly be the only person in the world who owns a strap like this.
This is a one-of-a-kind gallery piece — displayed here as an example of what becomes possible when a client brings us an idea that seems undoable. If you have a vision that scares you a little, that’s exactly when you should reach out.
