Marty Roe is the lead vocalist of Diamond Rio, one of country music's most celebrated groups and the first act in country music history to have a debut single go straight to number one. A Grammy winner with a career spanning four decades, Marty is known for his powerful voice, his warmth onstage, and his deep respect for the men and women who serve.
In 2005, Marty commissioned this custom POW/MIA guitar strap from Jeri Hart for the filming of Diamond Rio's music video, "In God We Still Trust." He has worn it prominently ever since, for over twenty years, as a tribute to missing military personnel and prisoners of war. The strap has become as recognizable as the man wearing it.
Diamond Rio sent Jeri a copy of the CD, which now hangs framed in her studio alongside photos from the video shoot. It's one of those pieces that means as much on the wall as the strap means on the stage.
The strap is built on belt leather softened through Jeri's own process, one that causes the leather to literally mold to the player's body over time. The POW/MIA lettering is airbrush stenciled using a paint formula developed to last a lifetime on leather, no small achievement. The emblem is rendered in hand-cut kidskin overlays, giving the strap its signature texture and depth.
