Chip Shearin is a musical genius and, by all accounts, a genuinely remarkable human being. As a bassist and record producer, he has been the low-end pulse for an extraordinary range of artists, including Janet Jackson, Michael Bolton, Faith Evans, Kirk Whalum, Bob James, Howard Hewitt, Phil Perry, Marion Meadows, George Howard, and many more. His credits span pop, jazz, and R&B at the highest level, and his reputation among musicians is equally matched by his reputation as a person.
His Jeri Hart strap was a true collaboration. Chip brought a clear vision to the design, and the result is unlike anything else in the gallery.
The base is black leather, edged all the way around with a half-inch border of purple sueded leather, and embellished with hand-oxidized blackened nickel nailheads. On the front, his name is worked in kidskin. On the back, a kidskin sun holds the name of his son, Cole. Two sides, two stories, one strap.
