This strap is built entirely from hundreds of tiny pieces of kidskin leather, assembled by hand into scenes and characters from The Wizard of Oz. Dorothy’s gingham dress alone is made from teeny tiny checks of white and blue kidskin — individually cut and placed, square by square, to recreate that iconic pattern in leather. The level of detail is almost unreasonable. That’s what makes it extraordinary.
Some pieces were cut freehand. Every piece was glued down first for precision, then meticulously stitched with clear thread so the stitching disappears into the design and nothing competes with the artwork. The result looks like it should be behind glass — and yet, like every strap we make, it can be rolled up, stuffed into a guitar case a thousand times, and come out looking absolutely perfect.
