This is the custom guitar strap created for Hank Williams Jr.'s iconic Monday Night Football opening performances, along with another that we created in the same way, without Hank's logo.
For more than two decades, Jeri Hart had the honor of creating custom straps for Hank, both for his personal use and for the television moments that made his football openers part of American music and sports culture. For nearly a decade, the Monday Night Football straps were built for the moment, for the stage, and for Hank's unmistakable style.
This strap starts with belt leather dyed red and painted black. The edges were beveled so the red shows through as a sharp frame around the black strap. The NFL logos were built from layers of kidskin, carefully assembled to give the design dimension and unmistakable team character.
This one-of-a-kind gallery piece preserves a small part of the Monday Night Football story, and the kind of custom work that belongs to one artist and one wearer alone.
