This strap was made for Susanne Mumpower, country music recording artist and, at the time, frontwoman of the band Iodine. Find her on Facebook.
The construction starts with thick but supple belt leather, dyed and painted black, then crackle painted cream. The crackle paint is one of those things that took years to perfect, it has to look incredible while staying pliable enough to move with the strap and never crack off. It does both.
The front features crackled kidskin overlays in layers. The back is where it gets truly special: a highly detailed train, rendered so that the crackle texture reads like coal in a coal car. Her son's name, Cole, is on the train. The kind of detail you have to look at twice before you realize what you're seeing.
